ITV’s latest actuality sequence, The Summit, has acquired blended reviews from viewers just moments into its first episode.
The gripping contest, hosted by This Morning’s Ben Shephard, options 14 contestants battling to attain the height of a mountain in the gorgeous Alps of New Zealand’s South Island.
Over a fortnight, they’re going to try to attain the summit in hopes of securing a portion of a £200,000 money prize.
Among the members are former Gladiator Ace and Gillian McKeith’s daughter, alongside a social media influencer and a tour information.
The debut episode, which aired tonight (Tuesday 10 February), noticed the contestants embark on the initial stage of the problem and start to familiarise themselves with each other, as personalities clashed over management roles and tensions began to escalate, experiences Wales Online.

They also confronted a daunting job of balancing on ropes high above the ground to traverse different elements of the mountain.
However, viewers had been less than impressed, with one disgruntled viewer evaluating it to “Like Lord of the Rings but with annoying people”.
Another said: “This is going to be like I’m A Celebrity up a mountain, already one saying he don’t like heights.”

“This looks as bad as I suspected,” another person slammed, as another viewer wrote: “This is boring. Just wannabees climbing a mountain for no reason.”

Yet another viewer slammed: “This is a bloody tough watch. Maybe there’s some paint drying on another channel…”
