Justin Rose revealed why he selected to flip down LIV Golf’s profitable offer to be part of the insurgent circuit, as he basks in the glory of his gorgeous victory at TPC Southwind.

Rose, now 45, secured a thrilling triumph over J. J. Spaun at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, defeating the American sensation in a dramatic playoff battle that proved he can still compete with the PGA Tour’s elite. The seasoned professional capitalized on Tommy Fleetwood’s meltdown to declare his twelfth tour victory.

As one of the tour’s elder statesmen, Rose explained that his triumph completely showcased his distinctive potential to ship when the strain mounts. Despite his advancing years, the champion is savoring every second on tour, having rejected a likelihood to spend his twilight years with assured financial riches as half of LIV.

This follows revelations about Scottie Scheffler’s “childish” financial association with his caddie after his $3.4 million payday.

In an interview with No Laying Up before the BMW Championship, Rose explained his resolution to reject the Saudi-backed league’s proposal. “Obviously I had the opportunity and a lot of my friends have gone over there and I harbor no ill feeling for guys who have made that decision at certain times of their career, but I just felt like I had more to give,” he started.

“I felt like I had more to give myself. I felt like I needed to believe in the 12-year-old me that wanted to win major championships and chase my dreams. And LIV didn’t offer me that at all, you know – didn’t offer the opportunity to continue to play in majors.”

Rose emphasised that on the PGA Tour, nothing is “given” and each participant has to earn “everything.” This problem was what he felt he needed, which finally led him to stick with the tour.

“I needed that environment to keep pushing me and didn’t really have any business believing I could win a major again, but I truly do believe I can have that sort of Indian summer to my career,” he added. “And for me, that’s way more valuable than let’s just say, trying to put a financial reward to it.

“Like I said, it is the aim of my {golfing} goals. It’s the 12-year-old me. It’s nearly like having a rhetorical query, a dialog with 12-year-old me and justifying why I might have made that transfer. I might have thought he would have most likely not been too completely happy with it. I believe with where I’m trending, I’m fairly completely happy with where I’m at. And I believe that the dream is still alive.”

Rose’s dream is very much still alive, as evidenced by his victory at TPC Southwind last week. In a chat with NBC Sports’ Damon Hack after his win, the 45-year-old shared what has kept him consistent despite being one of the older competitors at any given time.

“Yeah, I’ve always identified I’ve had that,” Rose said, referring to his ability to step up his game. “Like I get nervous for the best of them, you recognize, like I really feel nervous at occasions, but I do know that when it issues, I still received it. I variety of get, I really feel better and better and better as it will get more and more important.

“So that’s good to know. It’s the hard stuff to practice. It’s the hard stuff to teach. Nice to know that that hasn’t left me at this ripe old age.

“But pay attention, I do not need to keep saying that because I’m really, I really feel like I’m shifting nicely. The physique’s feeling good. I’m training nicely. Yeah, I really feel like there may very well be, you recognize, pay attention, it may very well be a good run of golf still. So I can not let the age variety of grow to be an excessive amount of of the story.”
