Katherine Kelly has shared the real challenges of filming her new TV project as she admitted “I thought we’d have to reshoot” one major scene.

The 45-year-old actress is set to captivate viewers tonight as she stars in the new Channel 4 drama In Flight, where she performs Jo Conran.

Ahead of the gripping drama, the star appeared on Tuesday’s (August 12) instalment of This Morning, alongside presenters Emma Willis and Andi Peters, as she spoke about her latest TV position.

Katherine was fast to open up about how the tough Belfast climate affected capturing. She said: “This is a really ambitious project, we filmed it in Belfast but it’s set in London though so it had to look like anywhere in the world.”

Andi jumped in and requested: “Bangkok is one of the locations, so you had to make Bangkok in Belfast?”

Katherine went on to describe the acute circumstances they confronted on location, explaining: “Not only did we do it in Belfast in the winter, but there was an amber weather warning that day.”

She continued: “So I said to Chris, our brilliant director, I was like ‘how are we going to make Belfast street look like Bangkok, also how are we going to do it today because it hasn’t stopped raining today’.”

The actress admitted: “We shot it that night because it needed to look moody, and we had about 35 supporting artists, we all had summer clothes on freezing in the rain.

“We were literally dragging our feet through the puddles. I honestly thought we would have to reshoot that, but it looks incredible. You have to keep watching because it is right at the end, but it was absolutely brilliant.”

The Channel 4 thriller In Flight follows a flight attendant and single mum Jo, who finds herself residing a nightmare when her son, Sonny, is imprisoned in Bulgaria for a homicide he swears he did not commit.

Jo is soon approached by a mysterious man, who reveals himself to be a member of a gang that has methods to access Sonny in prison.

By making threats on his life, they coerce Jo into smuggling medication across borders by utilizing her degree of anonymity as a flight attendant when travelling through airports.

Katherine is set to star alongside Martin, Ashley Thomas and Bronagh Waugh, who have taken on key roles.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am and ITV1 and ITVX and In Flight premieres on Channel 4 on Tuesday twelfth August 2025.
