King Charles’ state visit would have forefathers | Political News
Donald Trump has invited King Charles and Queen Camilla to the U.S. for a state visit, which is scheduled to kick off April 28 and run through April 30.
Charles and Camilla will spend the first day of their journey in Washington D.C., adopted by a visit to New York City with a third vacation spot still to be announced.
Trump was just in the U.Ok. for a state visit this past September, and it went so effectively that upon his return he prolonged an invitation to the royals to head this means.
There is a slight flaw in this plan, that Charles was invited to help rejoice the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. gaining its independence from the U.Ok., which was under the rule of King George III, Charles’s 4th-great-grandfather.
The irony of it all has not been misplaced on Brittani Barger, co-founder of Royal News, who told Express US, “I’m sure if the American forefathers could see the U.S. welcoming an ancestor of King George III warmly, they’d be in total shock.”
In terms of the anniversary, it may have made more sense to invite a world leader who represents a country that played a role in the American Revolution, like France’s President Macron.
In terms of our forefathers, there are easily hundreds, and the answer may change depending on who you ask, but the Founding Fathers are considered to be George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison.
The Declaration of Independence, which formally announced the colonies’ separation from Great Britain, was signed by Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. George Washington didn’t sign it, he was out of town, commanding the army in New York.
And while the math may not add up, to invite a direct descendant of the monarch the U.S. fought to break free from, Barger went over another way to look at the royals’ role in celebrating the anniversary.

“I think the visit is a good way to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of the U.S. and how far we’ve come.
“The two countries have gone from being enemies to close allies,” she said.
It took a minute for Buckingham Palace to affirm the state visit, which made it appear to be there could also be some deliberations and ideas of backing out, but according to Barger that wasn’t the case.
“Details on state visits aren’t revealed until closer to the date, so I don’t think there was any deliberate plot to hold off on any announcement,” she explained.
There have been lots of people hoping Charles would cancel the visit, but this is going on, which might go away some people sad but lots of others equally excited.
“I feel some Brits can be upset that the King is visiting the U.S., but royal lovers in the US can be excited. It can be one thing good to focus on for a short period.”
