Kingdom producer Naga Vamsi CONFIRMS Vijay | Indian Movie News

The much-anticipated sequel to Vijay Deverakonda’s 2025 spy thriller Kingdom has formally been shelved, producer Naga Vamsi confirmed in a current interview with Idlebrain. The choice comes after the first movie’s lukewarm box-office efficiency, ending hopes of increasing the franchise.

Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and starring Deverakonda as Suri — a constable-turned-spy — launched in theatres in July 2025 with a narrative designed to depart room for future instalments. However, despite high expectations, the movie failed to generate important business traction.

When requested about the deliberate follow-up, Vamsi made it clear that Kingdom 2 is no longer in the playing cards. “No, we are not making it anymore,” he told leisure portal Idlebrain, including that he felt there was little worth in re-hashing discussions about why the first movie didn’t take off. “There is no point in talking about what happened because it’ll only hurt Gowtam. There’s nothing more to do now,” Vamsi said, signaling a need to transfer ahead quite than dwell on setbacks.

Despite shelving the sequel, Vamsi affirmed that his working relationship with the director stays intact. “But yeah, we will collaborate with Gowtam. He is doing a different film now,” he said, hinting at new inventive ventures past the Kingdom universe.

Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda — who had hoped Kingdom can be a profession milestone after a few current downturns at the box workplace — has other tasks lined up, including the motion movie Rowdy Janardhana, directed by Ravi Kiran Kola, which is scheduled for release in 2026.
