LIV star joins Mickelson on sidelines after injury | Golf News

LIV Golf has suffered another participant withdrawal forward of its Adelaide event.

“Disappointingly, I sustained an injury to my wrist whilst practicing in preparation for the first event of the season,” Westwood posted on social media. “Thankfully, it’s nothing too serious; however, I’ve been advised to manage my rep count over the coming weeks.

“Therefore, I’ll sadly be lacking this month’s LIV Golf occasions in Riyadh and Adelaide. I look ahead to beginning my season in Hong Kong and want Majesticks Golf Club all the best under the lights and down under!”

Now, Martin Kaymer has become the third player to pull out of the Australian tournament. The Cleeks GC captain – a two-time Major winner – will be sidelined after sustaining what he described as a minor injury to his left elbow.

In a statement shared on his and Cleeks GC’s social media platforms, Kaymer announced: “I will not be enjoying in Adelaide this week due to a minor injury on my left elbow. It’s always powerful to sit out, particularly for an event as particular as LIV Golf Adelaide.

“The good news is that my recovery is progressing well, and I’m feeling strong. This is just a brief hiatus with my sights set on the long season ahead, and I’m eager to return to competition in Hong Kong. I’ll be rooting for the guys this week and will be back in Cleeks colors soon. I appreciate all the support.”

LIV Golf Adelaide is scheduled to kick off from February 12-15. Kaymer, who tied for 51st place in Riyadh, will probably be changed by reserve participant John Catlin.

Catlin participated in 5 LIV Golf League tournaments in 2024 and three in 2025. His best end was a tie for seventh place at LIV Golf Nashville in 2024, and he almost secured a LIV Golf card that season, ending fourth in the International Series Rankings thanks to a win at the International Series Macau match.

Catlin would be the third reserve participant in the sphere at The Grange GC. Five-time Asian Tour winner Wade Ormsby changed Mickelson, while Ben Schmidt, who completed T41st in Riyadh, is set to change Westwood.

Mickelson, who is attending to household issues, was changed by Ollie Schniederjans in Riyadh, with the American ending 56th.
