MAMI unveils new logo and brand id; launches | Indian Movie News
Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI), a main establishment devoted to celebrating Indian and world cinema since 1997, today unveiled a new logo and brand id, marking the start of a renewed chapter for one of India’s most influential and celebrated movie organisations.
Rooted in the idea that cinema is an artwork type that is of the people and for the people, that brings people together and sparks significant dialogue, the rebrand displays MAMI’s evolution into a pageant formed by its neighborhood, powered by various voices and pushed by the idea that tales join the human race. While remaining deeply anchored in Mumbai, MAMI continues to interact with cinema from across India and the world.
Coinciding with this second of renewal, MAMI also announced MAMI Independent, a new year-round initiative designed to present a very important platform for daring, modern impartial cinema from India and internationally. The programme will current weekly screenings on the big screen, offering sustained visibility to movies that often battle to discover space within mainstream exhibition circuits.

MAMI Independent represents a vital step in direction of building a stronger ecosystem for impartial cinema. The initiative will present filmmakers with a platform to current their work to engaged audiences, while fostering significant dialogue between filmmakers, cinephiles, industry professionals and rising expertise. The screenings intention to develop audiences for impartial movies and create alternatives for discovery, dialog, and potential distribution. The programme will showcase movies that break free from the mould, tales that rise from the margins, problem conventions and invite audiences not just to watch, but to really feel, query and mirror. Often created with restricted sources but pushed by immense ardour, these movies are continuously overshadowed by the amount of mainstream releases. MAMI Independent seeks to convey them out of the shadows and into the highlight they deserve.
Beginning twenty fifth February 2026, audiences in Mumbai can attend weekly screenings every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at PVR Lido, Santacruz, that includes a curated choice of impartial characteristic movies, documentaries, shorts, and experimental works from India.
Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Festival Director, MAMI Mumbai Film Festival states “I am excited to launch the new face of MAMI with a new logo and brand identity for the Mumbai Film Festival that reflects our belief that cinema is about people, about ideas and sparking conversations, and that the festival is about the storytellers and the public, that come together as a community to make the Mumbai Film Festival a celebration of film.”
MAMI Independent will start on 25 February 2026, with particulars of the screening slate and month-to-month calendar to be shared through MAMI’s official channels. The initiative reinforces MAMI’s dedication to nurturing cinematic excellence, supporting impartial filmmakers, strengthening the connection between storytellers and audiences, and enabling new pathways for movies to attain wider audiences.
Together, the new brand id and the launch of MAMI Independent reaffirm MAMI’s dedication to inventive freedom, the invention of new voices, and the continued positioning of Mumbai as a very important assembly ground for Indian and global cinema.
