Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will reportedly travel to Washington, D.C., on Saturday night.

He is slated to keep in Washington through Tuesday to attend a memorial service for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a longtime supporter of Israel, who died at age 71 over the weekend from a “brief and sudden illness.” Netanyahu will also meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, but a assembly has not formally been scheduled yet, an Israeli source told Israeli outlet The Jerusalem Post.

The journey will mark the first time that the Israeli chief will go to Washington since the Iran conflict started in late February. The last time he got here to the U.S. was last February.

The pair reportedly agreed to “meet soon” during a current cellphone call that Netanyahu initiated to congratulate Trump on the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.

The Israeli source indicated that Netanyahu’s main purpose for visiting and his top precedence during the journey might be attending Graham’s funeral.

Graham served as one of Netanyahu’s strongest allies in the Senate and was thought-about one of the most distinguished warhawks in Washington.

Netanyahu and his spouse, Sara, issued a assertion Sunday about his passing.

“Lindsey understood that the security of Israel and America are inseparable. He devoted his life to defending America, strengthening our alliance and standing up for the free world,” Netanyahu said in the assertion.

“Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. America has lost a great patriot. I have lost a beloved friend,” he continued. “Our hearts are with Lindsey’s family and with the American people at this difficult time. May his values and initiatives continue to guide us toward victory and peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing.”

South Carolina Republican Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, 62, to perform the rest of her brother’s time period through January after Trump proposed the thought via Truth Social.

Trump also posted a number of tributes to the late senator after his sudden passing, though he famous that the pair had a rocky start while talking to Fox News.

Among the posts Trump made was an image of Graham seemingly out for breakfast carrying a black hat that read, “Make Iran Great Again,” a call for regime change in the Islamic Republic.

Graham was one of the most distinguished warhawks in the Senate, notably in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror assaults.

He threw his help behind the invasion of Iraq in 2003, repeatedly threw his help behind Israel and was thought-about one of the most vocal advocates for the Iran conflict.

At the start of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, he gave carte blanche to Israel amid its army operation against Hamas.

“We’re in a religious war here. I am with Israel. Do whatever the hell you have to do to defend yourself. Level the place,” Graham said.
