The collection will delve into the historical past of the Chiefs franchise, wanting back at the early days under former proprietor Lamar Hunt, and present an unique behind-the-scenes look at their 2024 season, which culminated in a Super Bowl LIX defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

ESPN launched a teasing thirty-second trailer on Tuesday, opening with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes asserting: “Every year our goal is to win the Super Bowl. If we don’t win it’s a failure.”

Promising unrestricted access, ‘The Kingdom’ is poised to be ESPN’s reply to HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ and Netflix‘s ‘Quarterback’.

As per an ESPN press release, the collection is produced by Words + Pictures, in collaboration with Skydance Sports, NFL Films, 2PM Productions, and Foolish Club Studios.

“ESPN and Disney+ know that sports fans are interested in stories that take them beyond the X’s and O’s, and this series will explore the legacy of the Chiefs franchise while also showcasing the emotional highs and lows of building a championship-winning team,” acknowledged Burke Magnus, ESPN president of content material.
