Oscars grind to a halt as Javier Bardem hijacks | TV Shows

Spanish actor Javier Bardem went off script to make a political assertion as he introduced the award for Best International Feature Film alongside Indian actress Priyanka Chopra.

The 57-year-old star, who gained the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for No Country for Old Men in 2008, took to the stage carrying two badges.

One appeared to be a handmade badge saying “No A La Guerra” (No to War), and the second confirmed his assist for Palestine. It comes as an Oscars presenter got here under fire for making a jaw-dropping Holocaust joke live on stage.

As he arrived at the microphone without pausing, he announced, “No to war and free Palestine,” as Priyanka smiled and nodded beside him. He then jumped straight back into the scripted speech, revealing why he fell in love with cinema.

His stance obtained a combined response from viewers, who took to X to share their ideas on the surprising outburst. “Of course, Javier Bardem had to show up and ruin the #Oscars. He should take a plane and go to liberate Palestine. Oh right, the caviar leftist is only a spokesperson for Palestine in his mansion,” one fumed.

Another slammed him, sarcastically writing: “Ultra-woke and anti-Israel actor Javier Bardem: “No to conflict and free Palestine!”

A third chimed in: “Javier Bardem says ‘no to conflict and a free Palestine’ at the 2026 Oscars. The Spanish actor has long been important of Israel and the United States, and today he reiterated his stance at the most important ceremony in movie.”

A fourth approved of his statement, penning: “Javier Bardem was implausible at the Oscars tonight, talking reality to (cultural) energy.”

A fifth was mesmerised by the moment commenting: “Saying this in entrance of 1000’s and to tens of millions of Zionists, Javier Bardem, you enchant me so a lot.” Meanwhile a sixth completely agreed opining: “HELL YEAH, JAVIER SAID IT! You d*** liberal a*******, I hate you, I hate you!”

Javier’s moment came after presenter and comedian Jimmy Kimmel had earlier slammed US president Donald Trump as he stepped onto the stage to present the gong for Best Documentary.

Jimmy – who was suspended by his network ABC for remarks made after the assassination of Charlie Kirk – hit out at the lack of “free speech” in America.

“As you already know, there are some international locations whose leaders don’t assist free speech. I’m not at liberty to say which. Let’s just go away it at North Korea and CBS.”

It comes after CBS axed Stephen Colbert’s Late Show – with theories flooding the web that it was due to a censorship row to appease Trump.

It comes as an Academy Award winner was accused of “ruining everything” with his weird antics on Oscars evening.
