Stephen Colbert gives brutal warnings to ICE as | TV Shows

Stephen Colbert weighed in on ICE’s continued pursuit of the American people following the tragic death of Alex Pretti.

During the January 26 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host launched his monologue by saying, “On Saturday, only 17 days after Renee Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent, another American citizen was shot and killed by Customs and Border Protection agents.”

He expressed concern over the Trump administration’s transfer to “immediately blame the victim.” The confrontation between Alex and an ICE agent was caught on video, displaying him not brandishing a weapon, though he was carrying hid with a allow.

Stephen selected not to show the clip during the show due to its brutal and delicate nature. “I’m not going to play you that video. You’ve all seen it. And if you haven’t seen it, it’s because you didn’t want to, and I don’t blame you,” he told the in-studio viewers.

Fans picked up on some of Stephen’s selective phrases, including when he appeared to flag comparisons made between ICE and Hitler’s Gestapo, or secret police. “Do not compare ICE or Border Patrol agents to the Nazis,” said Stephen before a twist. That’s an unfair comparability. The Nazis had been keen to show their faces.”

“‘The Nazi’s had been keen to show their faces’ was a chilling sentence to hear,” a fan wrote in the YouTube comments.

Viewers were “indignant and disgusted with this authorities,” with many calling Alex’s death a “homicide.” As many had an emotional reaction, one said, “I’m not even American, and I’m crying watching this from afar – tears of anger and tears of unhappiness. It’s an absolute tragedy and an absolute outrage.”

Stephen, who is no stranger to hitting out at ICE, also included a full assertion from Alex’s household. “I actually recognize how his dad and mom’ assertion is being read in full, not only by Stephen but also by news channels,” one person said.

Alex was also called an “American hero” by many commenters and a “true patriot.” His family shared the sentiment in their statement.

“I don’t throw around the hero time period evenly. However, his last thought and act was to defend a girl,” they said. “The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting.”

“Alex Pretti believed in America, in free speech, and in coming to the non-violent support of ladies being brutalised by ICE. The govt. is a liar,” said one person online. Another said, “It says every part about Alex Pretti and his great nature, when confronted with such violence and brutality, that he did not pull his gun and start capturing. That he did not select violence. I hope his and Renee’s deaths will not be in useless and that ICE faces the implications of their actions!”
