Donald Trump addressed the graduates of West Point on Saturday during their graduation, giving credit where due, saying, the expertise at West Point had been “anything but easy” and he also gave out pardons for cadets with minor offences.
Civilian @cherylinperil gave Trump a shoutout over on X, where she wrote in a post: “President Donald Trump giving commencement address to one thousand officers joining the best military, outfitted by President Donald Trump. He also bestowed customary pardon to all West Point Cadets!”
As Trump walked to the rostrum, sporting a black swimsuit, white shirt and purple tie, the group quitely watched in anticipation and then broke out into cheers.
The US President began off the speech by saying: “Well, I want to thank you very much. This is a beautiful place, I have been here many times, going to high school — not so far away — a good place, also a military academy, not quite of this distinction, but it was a lot of fun for me.
“I just need to say, hi there cadets, and on behalf of our complete nation, let me say, congratulations to the West Point class of 2025, you might be winners, every single one of you, thanks.”
The cadets cheered for the President and applauded his words, and as the group quieted down, Trump continued
He said: “And now we would like you to loosen up, and I’m supposed to say ‘At ease,’ but you are already at ease because you made a great alternative in what you are doing, your selections in life have been actually wonderful, so this is a celebration, and let’s have a little enjoyable.”
Trump went on to thank the officers and teachers who oversaw and guided the cadets, and the parents and family who were “beeming with satisfaction,” and then turned his attention back to the students. He also invited those in the audience who served, so everyone could “see who” they’re and applaud them.
