President Donald Trump held a roundtable dialogue at the White House on Wednesday, during which he mentioned the seizure of an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela and the launch of his Trump gold card.
During a Q&A portion of the assembly, Trump was requested by a reporter to elaborate about statements made in an interview yesterday in which he said he felt it is time for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to start “accepting things.”
“He has to be practical, and I do marvel about how long it gonna be until they’ve an election,” Trump answered today. “There haven’t had an election in a long time… It’s losing a lot of people.”
“There was a poll that came out 82% of the [Ukrainian] people are demanding a settlement be made,” he said. Trump also accused Ukraine of having “massive corruption.”
Social media customers had been fast to blast Trump for his polling numbers claims, with one calling it “a blatant Russian talking point. Ukrainians need a settlement, but not on Russia‘s phrases.”

It is unclear as to what ballot Trump was referring to in his assertion.
Trump’s gold card annoucement
Today, Trump and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick announced the launch of the Trump gold card, a dear visa program with a fast-track route to U.S. residency. It will value $1 million for people and $2 million for corporations, according to Lutnick. The gold card could be among the most costly visa applications in the world.
“It’s a gift of getting somebody great coming into our country, because we think this would be some tremendous people that wouldn’t be allowed to stay. They graduate from college, they have to go back to India, they have to go back to China, they have to go back to France, they have to go back to wherever they came from. Very hard to stay, it’s a shame it’s a ridiculous thing we’re taking care of that,” Trump said.
Trump said the cardboard would work effectively for companies in hiring overseas college students from famend schools and universities to work in the United States.
Lutnick said that workers who would come to the U.S. through the gold card would go through in depth vetting.
“As the president said, for a corporation, they spend $2 million dollars they can then have an employee, full vetting, the best vetting the government has ever done, $15,000 vetting to make sure these people absolutely qualify to be in America. Then the company can keep them here, and they have a path to citizenship,” explained Lutnick.
Trump first touted the concept of the new visa program focused at rich foreigners in February. The card initially had a $5 million asking price.
“It’s going to be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card. They’ll be wealthy, and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes,” he said in late February.
