UFC legend Don Frye hospitalized with heart | MMA News
MMA pioneer and UFC legend Don Frye was just lately hospitalized due to a heart condition. “The Predator” was struggling from arrhythmia and might have died if it weren’t for fellow MMA legend Gary Goodridge.
Goodridge, who fought Frye 3 times during their careers, called Frye’s daughter and she sprang into motion.
“What brought me in here is my daughter,” Frye said on his YouTube channel from his hospital mattress. “Gary Goodridge turned on me, betrayed me, went behind my back, called the boss. The boss came over and threw me in the truck and I got stuck here for a few days.
“I had AFib (Atrial Fibrillation) again. They shocked me out of that back in 2016. It lasted nearly, nearly a decade,” Frye continued. “I’ve been feeling like sh*t for the last couple of years, but in the last three or 4 months I’ve been actually going downhill, actually regular, actually fast.”
Goodridge was in the hospital room checking on his friend when Frye filmed the YouTube video.
“You can inform when (Goodridge) got here over and I could not even exit and feed the horses. So, (Goodridge) knew one thing was incorrect,” Frye said. “I still really feel drained. I’ve received a couple of new drugs in me, so I’m feeling better. I’d breathe, I wasn’t getting any air in. I had 96% oxygen consumption, circulation, but it just did not really feel prefer it, but I”m back up to 99% or 100%. I can feel it now. I think the new medicines kicked in. They just got to adjust it to how much I need.”
“I really am happy that we came down here when we did,” Goodridge said sitting next to Frye’s hospital mattress. “Sometimes toughness is simply too robust. Don’t need anyone that’s too robust.”
Goodridge advised Frye to go to the hospital three weeks prior, but the 60 year-old did not.
“It was only three weeks not respiratory,” Frye said. “No biggy. Wasn’t that unhealthy.”
