U.S. senators crucial of Trump’s 28-point peace plan to end the Russia–Ukraine conflict said they spoke with Secretary of State Marco Rubio about their considerations, the Washington Post reported. Rubio told the senators that the peace plan Trump is pushing Ukraine to settle for is a “wish list” of the Russians and not the precise U.S. plan.

The peace plan, which grants Russia‘s vital concessions had been devised by Trump and the Kremlin without Ukraine‘s involvement. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly rejected the quite a few Russian calls for that the plan grant to Russia, including ceding large items of territory.

On Friday, Vladimir Putin welcomed the proposal and said it “could form the basis of a final peace settlement” if the U.S. might get Ukraine and its European allies to agree.
