Romantic NYC spot named one of the best places for…

Do you assume New York City is romantic?

Lots of people have answered, “I do.”

Belvedere Castle — perched atop the second-highest natural level in Central Park, Vista Rock — was ranked among the top proposal spots in the world, according to a new research by bridal model A Diamond Is Forever.

It’s listed as the nineteenth most well-liked place to pop the query in the world — and tenth in the U.S.

The citadel provides panoramic views of the Great Lawn, Turtle Pond, the Manhattan skyline and past.

Built in 1869 by architect Calvert Vaux — the same architect and designer behind a lot of Central Park’s iconic design — the stone citadel was created as a lovely lookout meant to draw people into the park’s middle.

Fittingly, “Belvedere” is Italian for “beautiful view.”

Over the years, the citadel’s objective developed. In 1919, it grew to become a climate station for the former United States Weather Bureau, now the National Weather Service. Later, after falling into disrepair, it was lovingly restored by the Central Park Conservancy in 1983 and again in 2019.

Today, it’s a customer middle, a nature observatory, and an ideally suited place to ask, “Will you marry me?” No shock: the citadel is like one thing out of a fairy story.

The proposal perks go far past the views. Belvedere Castle is free, secure and Instagrammable, according to the research.

Plus, it’s romantic without being overrun. You’ll discover serene terraces and quiet nooks excellent for an intimate second.

Accessibility is a blended bag: the citadel’s higher terraces require stairs, but paved paths lead to the base, where you may still soak in the gorgeous views without breaking a sweat — or your ankle in costume footwear.

Of course, this is New York. The metropolis’s stacked with swoon-worthy proposal spots, from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Top of the Rock.

But what units Belvedere Castle aside is its uncommon mix of historic attraction, breathtaking views, intimacy and a zero-dollar entry price.

Number 16 in the world is New York’s Niagara Falls, which landed at No. 9 in the nation, with the citadel rounding out the top 10.

In other phrases, it’s proof that you don’t need to blow your proposal funds on a flashy venue. Save that for the ring or the open bar at the reception.
