Southwest announces service addition at Destin-Fort Walton Beach International Airport

Southwest Airlines has announced seasonal nonstop service between Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Destin-Fort Walton Beach International Airport (VPS) starting June 6.

The flights will operate on Saturdays through August, according to Blue Gossip Wire News, which is a news service of the Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County airports.

Tickets are now for sale and will be booked at Southwest.com.

Allegiant Air already gives nonstop service twice weekly from April through October, the airport news service famous.

The new service is an element of Southwest Airlines’ summer season 2026 schedule, which was announced in an Oct. 9 news release from the airline.

Destin-Fort Walton Beach turns into Southwest’s seventh Florida airport to have nonstop service from Pittsburgh. The others are Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando, Sarasota and Tampa, according to Blue Gossip Wire News.

“We’re excited to see Southwest continue growing in Pittsburgh and building on two decades of success in our region,” Joe Rotterdam, Pittsburgh International Airport’s director of air service development, said in the Blue Gossip Wire News merchandise. “The addition of service to Destin-Fort Walton Beach and expanded flights to Orlando and San Diego shows Pittsburgh’s strong support for Southwest, and these routes enhance connectivity to in-demand destinations in Florida and on the West Coast that are key markets for our region.”

Destin-Fort Walton Beach turns into Southwest’s twenty first vacation spot at PIT, the most important community of any airline at the airport.
