Democrats Lose Their Minds Over Trump

Donald Trump is at the moment “demolishing” the White House, according to quite a few left-wing commentators and press retailers. Videos emerged on Monday of construction crews tearing down half of the East Wing facade to put together the way in which for a new ballroom, which is being privately funded.

Yes, nothing says “desecration” like not having to maintain large occasions in tents anymore. I assume Barack Obama descrated the White House too when he constructed a basketball court. Jim Acosta joined the freak out as properly, apparently unaware that practically every president in historical past has modified or added one thing to the White House grounds.

In fact, the current East Wing is not half of the historic White House construction. It was a moderately bland workplace building that was added on top of a bunker in 1942 by Franklin D. Roosevelt. There’s nothing sacred about it, and it was never meant to be something but a sensible addition to the power. Heck, the current Oval Office is not even unique, being created by Harry S. Truman. Likewise, Richard Nixon ripped the first bowling alley out of the West Wing and constructed another one in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. 

What Trump is doing is completely within bounds. Lots of presidents have modified the White House grounds to make it more snug, luxurious, or sensible. As anticipated, though, the press is spinning this as some variety of scandal.

This could be the most inside-the-beltway story I’ve ever seen.
