Maycee Barber's medical issues are behind her | MMA News

Entering 2025, UFC ladies’s flyweight contender Maycee Barber was driving a six-fight successful streak and regarded to be one win away from incomes a title shot.

“There was an event that happened in the back when I was warming up and the doctor, the commissioners, like everybody saw it. And the commissioners were, I guess they were asking me if I was okay, and I was saying that I was, and then they didn’t think that I was.

“They saved asking the coaches and the coaches had been like – Again, I’m not solely sure because it is arduous for me to bear in mind all the things that occurred – But from what I used to be told the coaches had been like, ‘We’re not fairly sure.’ So they had been making an attempt to determine it out and they ended up all going and getting the docs. Next factor I do know I used to be in the back of the ambulance and being transported to the hospital,” she told ESPM MMA in June. 

Barber was evaluated by several doctors and underwent a litany of tests. She didn’t get all the answers she wanted but hasn’t had an issue since being prescribed medication. She’s been cleared to fight and is slated to take on No. 9 ranked Karine Silva at UFC 323 on Dec. 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“It has been a wild journey, a tough, what is it, nearly 18 months now. I’m finally excited to have the opportunity to be back in a (training) camp again and back to having a combat again. I’m just feeling actually blessed and actually excited,” Barber told MMAJunkie

“The UFC despatched me to a neurologist, a number of docs really, and we ended up being ship to a neurologist in Boston. Although they did not have an actual pinpoint reply of, ‘Hey, this is strictly what occurred. This is why it occurred,’ and all of that. They had a resolution,” Barber explained. 

“I never thought I’d be a individual that can be taking medicines, but they put me on medication. That was the answer, and I have not had any issues since then. My last event that I ever had was I imagine like June or July. After all of that I’ve been fully high-quality and healthy. Got the clearance from the neurologist, and then was cleared to be abler to continue and practice and combat and all of that.”
