President Donald Trump told reporters that his peace plan is not his remaining offer to Ukraine.

Trump was talking to reporters outdoors the White House before heading to Joint Base Andrews on Saturday afternoon.

“No, not my final offer,” Trump said after a reporter questioned if it was his remaining offer to Ukraine.

“I’d like to get the peace. It should’ve happened a long time ago. The Ukraine war with Russia should’ve never happened. If I were president, it would’ve never happened. We’re trying to get it ended,” Trump added. “One way or the other, we have to get it ended.”

Copies of the Trump administration’s 28-point draft proposal to end the Russia-Ukraine battle had been obtained by AP and other media organizations on Thursday.

Parts of the plan call for Ukraine to cede territory, keep away from becoming a member of NATO, and restrict the scale of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to 600,000 personnel.

In exchange, Russia would relinquish smaller parts of land it occupies in other areas, sources point out.

Defense analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) argue that the 28-point plan would not obtain peace but would instead encourage additional Russian aggression.

Trump had beforehand given Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a deadline of Thanksgiving Day—Thursday, November 27 —to log off on the draft proposal.

Zelensky did not outright reject the plan, but insisted on honest treatment while pledging to “work calmly” with Washington and other companions. He added that that is nation is going through “truly one of the most difficult moments in our history.”
