Woman Provides the Final Word in the Merry | Political News
You know, I admit that for many years after I turned a conservative (which was circa the mid-Nineties), you’d hear me saying “happy holidays” or “season’s greetings” more than “Merry Christmas” this time of yr.
It wasn’t because I wasn’t a believer – I used to be and still am. It’s just that I used to be still studying my manner in the world and discovering my voice, and at that time, I did not need to risk scary a ridiculous argument or a glare from politically appropriate varieties. Plus, I wasn’t as strong in my religion then as I’ve grown to be over the years.
Even with the Christmas playing cards I’d ship out, I’d get the ones that had the very canned messages about the “holiday season,” and usually would only write a “Merry Christmas” greeting inside the playing cards that could be addressed to those whom I knew have been believers.

Over the years, however, my relationship with Christ strengthened, and the arguments about how taking His identify out of so many issues being a big contributor to societal decline started resonating with me more and more. I did not need to be contributing to that.
Plus, it hit me at a sure level that being overly cautious in how I said my phrases so as not to offend somebody with a different perception system was not how I wished to live my life, particularly when you think about that there may be nothing offensive about saying “Merry Christmas” unless one is a perpetually fauxfended particular person.
Further, I had Jewish mates and non-believers alike who would not hesitate to say “Merry Christmas” to people. If they have been saying it, why the heck wasn’t I, as a lady of religion, saying it, too, and with conviction?
So for the last couple of a long time or so, “Merry Christmas” has been my default Christmas greeting when I work together with somebody, whether or not in particular person, electronic mail, textual content, cellphone, mail, what have you ever. And it pleases me to no end that the overwhelming majority of the time when I say it, it’s said back to me in return. Sometimes, it is even the other particular person who says it first.
As a aspect notice, I’m also not opposed to including “happy holidays” to a Merry Christmas greeting, as seen right here, for occasion:

This night on X, I used to be scrolling down my feed to catch up on what was going on in the world since, like many people, I’ve spent most of the day offline having fun with the Christmas vacation. I got here across an undated video from a lady who had most likely one of the most – if not the most – definitive statements on the entire “happy holidays” versus “Merry Christmas” debate that I’ve ever seen.
In it, she talked about how she did not care if people bought offended by “Merry Christmas,” that she would always say it. She also famous how she did not get upset when she heard another person say “happy holidays,” but she said her response in flip could be “Merry Christmas” because Jesus was the purpose for the season, and people need to be reminded of that.
It was just a great, matter of fact, this is how it’s kind of stance that we need to see more of from believers, in my opinion:
“I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care. They say happy holidays, I say Merry Christmas.”
“I’m going to be very intentional about saying Merry Christmas.”
“Jesus is the reason for the season.”
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
