Alex Honnold Taipei 101 LIVE: Skyscraper Live star | UK News

Alex Honnold is gearing up for one of the most harmful challenges of his profession: trying a free solo climb—without any ropes or protecting gear—on Taipei 101, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. The 40‑12 months‑outdated climber, already well-known for pushing the boundaries of what’s potential on sheer rock faces, plans to scale the 1,667‑foot tower in Taiwan’s capital.

In an interview with GWN before the event, which will probably be broadcast live on Netflix at 1am on Saturday, Honnold acknowledged the intense risk concerned, overtly stating that a fall from such a top would nearly definitely be deadly. He (*101*): “If something happens, I would die, though actually, on this particular building, that’s not even totally true because there are balconies every few floors. The geometry of the building, the shape of the building is such that you actually could fall in tons of places and not actually die, which makes it in some ways safer than a lot of rock-climbing objectives.”
