The hearing focusing on Attorney General Pam Bondi on Wednesday shortly descended into chaos after Bondi was accused of “covering up” elements of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Bondi and Representative Pramila Jayapal of Washington got here to blows after the congresswoman requested the attorney normal to flip around and face the victims of Epstein, who have been current in the room. “Can respond to your—,” Bondi once again began before being cut off again. “I would like to answer, which will you turn to the survivors?” she added.
“This is not about anybody that came before you,” Jaypal continued as Bondi grew more and more pissed off. “It is about you taking responsibility for your Department of Justice and the harm that it has done to the survivors who are standing right behind you and are waiting for you to turn to them and apologise for what your Department of Justice is.”
A verbal scuffle ensues as both Bondi and Jaypal attempt to outdo each other in answering the query. “Members get to ask the questions. The witness gets to answer in the way they want to answer,” the chairman of the committee said, trying to restore decorum.
“That’s not accurate, Mr. Chairman,” Jaypal interjected. Bondi, sensing that she might need a window to converse, took her probability.
“Because she doesn’t like to answer. Mr. Chairman, I have asked and she asked Merrick Garland this twice,” sneered Bondi. “I’m reclaiming my time,” Jaypal said once again, cutting Bodi off.
“I’m not going to get in the gutter for her theatrics,” Bondi raged as she stared down the Democratic consultant. “You’re not going to answer this question, so let me just do this. Chairman,” Jaypal said before regaining 17 seconds of her time.
Bondi’s hearing in entrance of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday was the first time she’s appeared in individual since the Justice Department allegedly launched all information pertaining to convicted intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein.
