Elmo drops a Trump diss track on the Late Show – | TV Shows
Amid reports Donald Trump plans to cut funding to PBS, it appears Elmo from Sesame Street had something to say about it, dropping a diss track against the president in a parody for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The parody came after the White House announced plans to strip $1.1 billion in funding for both NPR and PBS. The public broadcasters are among the latest targets to face threatened funding cuts due to what the government has considered excess spending, or face cuts due to DEI initiatives.
Other targets have included the Smithsonian Institute museums and Harvard University, the latter of which saw former President Barack Obama, a law school graduate, referred to as Antisemitic by a Fox News host.
However, the threat to cut funding to PBS, which is the home network of classic kids program Sesame Street, is striking a nerve.
The show, which aims to mainly teach children early literacy and numeracy skills, as well as social-emotional and cultural development and awareness, appeared to partner up with CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as it seemingly responded to the news its funding would be cut.
During the April 16 broadcast of Colbert’s political satire talk show, a clip of the news report stating the White House was asking Congress to slash the funding aired, followed by a screen saying “And now, a response from PBS.”
It then cuts to Elmo, one of the show’s most beloved characters, sitting at a piano and calling over Big Bird and Snufffleupagus to hear his new song.
Set to the tune of “Elmo’s World,” he then sings his parody, which takes direct aim at Trump.
“Trump’s threatening our funds, has two stupid sons, Elmo’s pissed,” he sings. “Says that we’re woke, his brain is broke, dumb fascist.”
“Tickle me Elmo went straight to ticked off Elmo,” another said.

“That’s gold,” one person wrote on the forum.
“You know you f—-d up if Elmo’s dissing you,” another said.
