Fat Families host ditches fame as he swaps TV for | UK News

Most people will recognise him from fronting the Sky actuality show Fat Families, but Steve Miller has now chosen a different profession path. Broadcast on Sky1 in 2010, Fat Families follows Steve Miller, a no-nonsense weight-loss professional who pledged to help struggling households shed extra kilos. The show ran for two sequence before concluding in December 2010. 15 years later, Miller has ditched TV and joined Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.

In May, Miller announced his membership through a sequence of posts on X, including an image of his Reform UK membership card, which he said he was “proud” to have acquired. He wrote in the caption: “If you want to save Britain, it’s what you do. Dear ordinary decent people. Be proud to tell others you support Reform UK. Do not worry about people claiming you are racist for doing so. You aren’t. You simply care about your country.” Miller added: “It’s time to be proud of supporting Reform UK.”

When an X user responded with an image of Miller from his Fat Families days, the former presenter replied: “YES! This is me and I’m completely DELIGHTED to be a member of @reformparty_uk.”

This marks a stark contrast to Miller’s previous role on the Sky show, where he worked closely with overweight families, guiding them to transform their lives through healthier diets and lifestyle changes.

He was particularly brutal with the families he stayed with, as evidenced by a recently resurfaced clip from the programme.

“I’m in Telford, Shropshire, about to meet one of the fattest families I’ve ever met in my life,” Miller says in the footage.

“Too a lot time sat on their fats bums. That’s their downside, plain and simple. If they don’t pull out their chubby fingers, they’ll be on their method to an early grave.”

Miller refers to himself as a “common sense media commentator” and often shares his views on current political issues.

However, it is clear the topic of food is still something Miller is passionate about, as he shared his views after Professor Naveed Sattar recommended that women should be served portions 25% smaller than those given to men.

Miller said: “That is because Labour, more lunacy, Labour’s obesity czar is suggesting that girls, because they need less calories than males, needs to be given a smaller portion in eating places. I say fats off to that one and there’s a purpose, it is called common sense.

“Common sense being the smaller portion will be cheaper and therefore if you want a side just have a side order of fries. Secondly, it will be an operational nightmare for restaurants. There would be complaint after complaint. It does not work. It is pathetic.

“I say if you need to get people to eat less on the menu that says if you are fats, assume before ordering. Simple. Solved.”
