Fox News hosts left in shock after positive | Political News
Donald Trump’s assembly with Zohran Mamdani at the White House left Fox News surprised with how nicely it appeared to have gone.
Fox Business anchor David Asman had only one phrase after viewing the president’s shockingly cordial chat with New York City’s mayor-elect, “Wow.” He appeared to battle with his phrases as he described the lads’s interactions.
“‘Commie Mamdani‘ as the president has referred to his visitor in the Oval Office there for the past a number of months,” said Asman. “Looked like best friends with President Trump now.”
Asman called it an extraordinary assembly, repeating Trump’s phrases of wanting Mamdani to be the best mayor New York could be. A clip of Asman’s response went viral online, with many sharing comparable disbelief and others mocking the hosts.
“So… Exodus cancelled?” requested one individual, referring to a number of New Yorkers who claimed they would depart the state if Mamdani gained the mayoral election.
“No, Trump looked like he wanted to be Mamdani’s best friend,” wrote another individual. “Mamdani didn’t falter on his stance once.” Another individual said Trump “was taken” by Mamdani’s charisma.
“Fox couldn’t believe what they’re reporting,” wrote a fourth individual.
Strange bedfellows
Trump and Mamdani’s extremely anticipated White House assembly resulted in the 2 males agreeing on a number of factors, despite the vocal jabs that they had thrown at one another during Mamdani’s marketing campaign.
DON’T MISS…
Trump has beforehand labeled Mamdani a “100 Communist Lunatic” and threw his help behind former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Meanwhile, Mamdani called the president a “despot” and promised to be his “worst nightmare.”
However, Trump, who was born in Queens, admitted to reporters that he would really like to live in Mamdani’s New York. “I always feel very, very comfortable being in New York,” he said. “And I think much more so after the meeting.”
Trump said that even conservatives could be shocked by Mamdani as the mayor.
When a reporter requested the president if he agreed with conservative New York congresswoman Elise Stefnik’s claims that Mamdani is a “jihadist,” Trump said he did not. “I met with a man who’s a very rational person,” said Trump, downplaying Stefanik’s feedback. “I met with a man who really wants to see New York be great again.”
In a tweet, Stefanik, who is operating for governor of New York, wrote: “We all want NYC to succeed. But we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one.”
Trump deflects questions
The president even appeared to defend Mamdani when the latter was hit with a number of pointed questions from Trump-friendly reporters. When requested if he would retract his feedback on the president, such as calling him a “despot” and authoritarian,” Mamdani came prepared with an answer.
“We are very clear about our positions and our views, and what I actually admire about the president is the assembly that we had targeted not on locations of disagreement, which there are many, and also targeted on the shared objective that we’ve in serving New Yorkers,” said Mamdani, avoiding the questions directly.
Before the reporter could grill him further, Trump interjected: “I’ve been called a lot worse than a despot, and so it’s not that insulting.”
A similar situation happened when Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich asked Mamdani if he still considers Trump to be a “fascist,” but as Mamdani began to answer, the president jumped in again. “That’s OK,” he said, tapping on Mamdani’s arm and telling him that it was “simpler” to say yes, which Mamdani did.
Throughout the meeting, Trump repeatedly committed to working with Mamdani, even suggesting at one point that his administration would pressure ConEdison, the primary electric provider for New Yorkers, to lower its rates. The president also welcomed Mamdani’s efforts to build more housing.
“He needs to see a lot of homes created, a lot of flats constructed, et cetera,” said Trump, who was famous in the real estate business before entering politics. “People could be shocked, but I need to see the same factor. We agree on a lot more than I’d have thought. I need him to do a great job, and we’ll help them do a great job.”
