John Daly II is making his PGA Tour debut this week at the Puerto Rico Open, and he is already following in his father’s footsteps.

John Daly, the two-time major winner recognized for his persona as a lot as his play, noticed his son mirroring him at the 120-man area in Puerto Rico alongside other up-and-comers on the PGA Tour.

The University of Arkansas product and the 119th Southern Amateur champion is making his PGA Tour debut as a sponsor exemption and has made one profession start in a tour-sanctioned event as an beginner.

“Got off to a good start, made a nice birdie on 1. Solid up-and-down on 2, made about a 20-footer for par, which is nice, settled me in. And then just hit some good shots. Feel like I left a few out there, but I made it up with just a couple good saves and nice chip-in on 16.”

Daly performed alongside Neal Shipley, who shot the first-ever TGL hole-in-one just weeks in the past.

“It was fun,” said Daly II after enjoying with Shipley. “I love Neal, it was awesome. First time meeting him yesterday. He’s a good dude and I enjoyed playing with him a lot.”

To end off his convention, Daly II famous he gained’t be hitting the vary after the first spherical but instead to kick up his toes in sand.

“I would say I’d go hit balls, but I’m a little tired so I’m just probably going to go to the beach and probably do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day,” completed Daly II.

He also gained a PNC Championship with his father at the 2021 PNC Challenge with an event-record rating of 27-under par for 36 holes, and the duo had been runners-up in 2022 and 2018.

“I didn’t know it,” said Daly after their win at the PNC Championship on the file. “He did. He says, ‘If you make this, we’re going to beat the record by two.’ So I hit it a little firm (laughter). And luckily we made the putt coming back, but no, I didn’t know. I didn’t know it was a record until he told me.”
