At 39, Chavez Jr. is not the identical fighter he used to be but believes he is still good enough to beat Paul. He also wants a harder opponent next.
“I want to put clear that I’m still here. I’m not old and I take this sport serious. Train hard, be disciplined. I’m 39. I don’t think I’m old,” he stated. “I still feel good in the gym. So I want to prove that I’m still here, I’m still a good fighter. I want to fight better opposition after this fight and that’s why I took this fight.”
Chavez Jr. has taken his preperation significantly, educated laborious and stayed disciplined. He’s been sober for 20 months and wants to use a win over Paul to springboard to higher issues.
