A father who fatally shot his 23-year-old daughter during her trip in the U.S. has said he’s “deeply sorry.”
Lucy Harrison, a resident of Warrington, England, was visiting her father’s Texas residence with her boyfriend Sam Littler when she was hit at ‘medium vary’ by a bullet discharged by her father, Kris Harrison. These particulars emerged during an inquest at Cheshire Coroner’s Court.

Lucy and her boyfriend, Sam Littler, had touched down at her father’s home in Prosper, Texas, on December 28, 2024, following their departure from Heathrow Airport. The deadly capturing occurred just as they had been preparing to depart, the Liverpool Echo reported.
Medical evidence signifies that Lucy was shot in the chest by another individual. It was also established that she had no alcohol or medication in her system.
Yet, a Texas jury decided that no costs can be introduced in connection with her death on June 10 of the earlier yr. Under Texas law, if a jury opts against prison costs, the person accused by police stays unidentified.

In a assertion issued through his attorneys, Lucy’s father Mr Harrison said: “I fully accept the consequences of my actions, and there isn’t a day I don’t feel the weight of that loss – a weight I will carry for the rest of my life, and I know that nothing I say can ease the heartbreak this tragedy has caused.

Harrison was not present during the court hearings but submitted a statement describing how he and his daughter had been watching a television news segment about gun violence when he mentioned possessing a firearm and asked if she wanted to see it.
After she consented, they went to the bedroom where he took out the Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol kept in his nightstand drawer, per his testimony. He claimed he had bought the weapon years before because he wanted a “sense of security” for his family, while refuting any previous conversation about it with his daughter.
He further pointed out that in Texas, no permit is needed to possess a firearm for home protection. Harrison said he could not recall if his finger was on the trigger as he took the gun from its case.
He explained: “As I lifted the gun to show her, I immediately heard a loud bang. I didn’t perceive what had occurred. Lucy immediately fell.”

He admitted to previous struggles with alcohol and acknowledged he “briefly lapsed” on the day of his daughter’s death due to emotional distress over her departure. He reported consuming 500ml of white wine over a two to three-hour period earlier that day.
Lucy’s mother, Jane Coates, described her daughter, who worked for fashion retailer Boohoo, as a “real pressure of life”. She reflected: “She cared. She was passionate about issues. She liked to have debates about issues that meant a lot to her.”
Evidence provided by Lucy’s boyfriend, Sam, indicated that a dispute occurred between Harrison and his daughter, coinciding with Donald Trump‘s inauguration.

He recalled: “That morning I used to be technically working, The ladies had been outdoors taking part in in the snow but that morning Heather [Harrison, Krish Harrison’s wife] was working in the other room, I used to be working in the kitchen.
“It was quite wholesome. There was a big argument that morning, it was during the time Trump had been inaugurated, off the back of that, Kris and Lucy had a big argument, and it led to Lucy running upstairs, upset.”
