General Yuri Sadovenko, who served as Putin’s deputy protection minister, died “from heart disease,” Russian media reported without any extra particulars. 

The 56-year-old was close to the previous protection minister Sergei Shoigu, who now serves as secretary of the Kremlin’s security council.

He was born on September 11, 1969, in Zhytomyr, Ukraine. He graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School and served in the military for 4 years before shifting to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES). In 2007, Sadovenko assumed a place in the administration of the Moscow Region, and in 2013, he was appointed Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defense.

Sadovenko was fired by Putin in May 2024, following the elimination of Shoigu.
