Netflix’s Ransom Canyon has made its debut, offering viewers a glimpse into the country Western lifestyle. But where was it filmed?

Netflix continues to churn out original shows in hopes of replicating the success of other major hits.

Its recent medical drama Pulse has been likened to the iconic Grey’s Anatomy, and now Ransom Canyon is drawing comparisons to Paramount+’s Yellowstone.

The 10-episode drama got the green light back in December 2023 and has just premiered on Netflix in full on Thursday, April 17.

Starring Las Vegas’ Josh Duhamel and Friday Night Lights’ Minka Kelly, Ransom Canyon delves into the lives of three of the town’s largest ranches, including the intricate dynamics of their families.

In addition to the compelling cast, the stunning backdrop of the Netflix drama has piqued viewers’ interest, with many eager to find out where it was filmed.

Blair, the creative force behind popular shows like Wednesday and All American, shared with Tudum: “Most of New Mexico is adobe architecture, and there’s this one little old mining town in northern New Mexico very close to the Texas border called Las Vegas, ironically, that just looks like an old Texas town.

“It has all the old turn of the century architecture and storefronts.”

He also revealed that ranches such as Blame Her Ranch in Ribera and Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe were key locations for shooting Ransom Canyon.

Jack Schumacher, speaking to Distractify, expressed his admiration for the locale: “It’s a really gorgeous area. And when you’re out riding a horse through this scenic ranch, it’s easy to sort of feel like you’re really there with the characters.”

The Netflix series also capitalized on its Albuquerque production hub, which is said to feature 12 sound stages, for various segments of the production.
