Republicans deem Biden pardons null & void and | Political News
Members of the Republican Party have reportedly requested the Department of Justice to examine former President Joe Biden‘s use of the autopen in an effort to presumably undo any of the previous president’s pardons.
A 91-page report launched by the House Oversight Committee and obtained by The Daily Express U.S. was launched on Tuesday following an investigation into the president’s mental colleges. House Oversight Chair James Comer has also reportedly requested the Department of Health’s Board of Medicine to start an investigation into the previous president’s doctor.
One of the most vital requests to Attorney General Pam Bondi asks the division to examine Biden’s pardons and decide if any ought to be overturned.
“The investigation’s findings, detailed herein, make clear that, as President Biden was losing command of himself throughout his time in office, his executive actions—especially pardons, of which there are many—cannot all be deemed his own,” the report says. “The authority to grant pardons is not provided to the president’s inner circle. Nor can it be delegated to particular staff when a president’s competency is in question.”
“The Committee recommends the Department of Justice investigate all of former President Biden’s executive actions, particularly clemency actions, to assess whether legal action must be taken to void any action that the former president did not, in fact, take himself,” it continues. While many presidents — including President Trump — have used the autopen to signal varied actions, many Republicans have slammed the previous president’s usage.
Several House Republicans have claimed that Biden was “cognitively impaired” and that his staff adopted a “laissez-faire approach that treated the use of the autopen as a mundane practice.” GOP members also alleged that President Biden’s workers didn’t even doc the chain of command on choices.
Despite the claims, the report doesn’t specify one particular incident. The Daily Express U.S. reached out to the White House for remark.
DON’T MISS:
“Barring evidence of executive actions taken during the Biden presidency showing that President Biden indeed took a particular executive action,” Comer wrote. “The Committee deems those actions taken through use of the autopen as void.”
“The validity of the executive actions allegedly approved and signed (largely by autopen) by President Biden must be reviewed to determine whether legal action is necessary to ameliorate consequences of any illegitimate pardons granted, or executive actions implemented, throughout the Biden Autopen Presidency,” the report provides. “The Committee finds numerous executive actions—particularly clemency actions—taken during the Biden Administration were illegitimate.”
“Therefore, the Committee urges the Department of Justice to investigate all executive actions attributed to President Joe Biden,” the report concluded. The report alleged that “White House Aides who were instrumental to the cover-up and did not fully testify before the Committee — including Bernal, Tomasini, and Dr. O’Connor — should face further scrutiny for hiding information from the American people.”
“Additionally, Dr. O’Connor’s role in the cover-up is deeply disturbing. Dr. O’Connor refused to answer the Committee’s questions about President Biden’s health, including the president’s cognitive health,” Comer continued. “As the White House physician, Dr. O’Connor owed a duty not only to his patient, the president, but also to the American people.”
The report provides that “If Dr. O’Connor improperly diagnosed or submitted false, misleading reports on President Biden’s health, he should face further investigation —if not sanction.”
