Pete Townshend is under fire after making feedback about girls that have been criticized as “misogynistic.”

The 80-year-old Grammy Award-winning rocker confronted backlash after making claims that being a younger man is more troublesome than being a younger girl in a current interview. The Who frontman made the argument while discussing masculinity and steered that boys have it worse than ladies.

The offensive, tone-deaf remarks got here as he and his bandmates put together for their upcoming North American tour dates before they retire from performing after 60 years. The English rock band, thought of one of the most influential acts of all time, fashioned in 1964 and was a peer of The Beatles and the Rolling Stones during the British Invasion.

He supplied an anecdote about a time when he cut open his hand during a efficiency at Madison Square Garden, recalling that the “ice hockey guy” used a staple gun on the gash and “the next day it was fixed,” including, “That is what young men are saddled with.”

His feedback sparked an onslaught of backlash and offended reactions, including from one UK-based feminist advocacy group who told Radar Online, “These remarks are deeply out of touch and read as misogynistic.
