Trump directs his team to attempt meeting with | Political News

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly directed members of his administration to attempt a meeting with Iranian officers as soon as attainable, as a battle between Israel and Iran enters its fifth day.

According to a CNN report, Trump advised European leaders at the G7 summit in Canada that talks had been underway to get hold of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, and instructed he wished American officers to meet their Iranian counterparts this week.

It comes as Trump introduced he would depart the G7 summit a day early and return to Washington D.C. due to the escalating battle in the Middle East.

Speaking shortly before his departure on Monday, Trump mentioned he had to depart early for “obvious reasons.”

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was headed to the White House Situation Room to meet with Trump and his national security team, The Associated Press reported.

Earlier on Monday, Trump warned “everyone” in Iran to evacuate the capital Tehran “immediately” as he slammed Iranian officers for not reaching a deal on its nuclear program.

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!”

Talks between the US and Iran on a deal on its nuclear program had been due to happen over the weekend but had been suspended indefinitely after Israel launched lethal airstrikes on Tehran early Friday.

Israel attacked Iran in a sequence of strikes that killed prime Iranian army officers and hit nuclear and missile websites. Iran retaliated with a wave of missile assaults concentrating on Israel hours later, raising considerations of an all-out conflict.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attacking Iran to intentionally derail the talks with Washington.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday mentioned Israeli strikes have set Iran’s nuclear program back a “very, very long time.” He instructed that Israel’s strikes may topple the Iranian authorities.

The Israeli strikes have killed at least 224 people in Iran since Friday. Meanwhile, 24 people have been killed in Israel.
