President Trump announced 10% tariffs shall be imposed on Denmark, Germany, UK, France, and others, beginning February 1, and rising to 25% on June 1, until deal reached on Greenland.

The president took to his Truth Social web site to share his grievances at Greenland and Denmark as he announced the new spherical of sweeping tariffs.

“We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back — World Peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland, and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it.” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday morning.

According to the prolonged Truth Social assertion, the countries subject to the tariffs are Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland

“They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently. Only the United States of America, under PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, can play in this game, and very successfully, at that! Nobody will touch this sacred piece of Land, especially since the National Security of the United States, and the World at large, is at stake. On top of everything else, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland have journeyed to Greenland, for purposes unknown”

Trump’s point out of two “dogsleds” is an imagery the White House has adopted in current weeks. According to that argument, Greenland at present has two different canine sleds operating along two paths, one that may lead to a brilliant future with the United States, and one that may lead to an ominous destiny at the fingers of Russia and China.

The American president argued that, by not permitting Greenland to change into half of the U.S., they’re advancing the pursuits of Russia and China.

“This is a very dangerous situation for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Planet. These Countries, who are playing this very dangerous game, have put a level of risk in play that is not tenable or sustainable. Therefore, it is imperative that, in order to protect Global Peace and Security, strong measures be taken so that this potentially perilous situation end quickly, and without question,” the president wrote.

Trump continued his post by arguing that earlier U.S. presidents had also tried to purchase Greenland, but their efforts had proved unsuccessful.

The Republican president has insisted for months that the U.S. ought to control Greenland, a semiautonomous territory of NATO ally Denmark, and said earlier this week that something less than the Arctic island being in U.S. fingers can be “unacceptable.” Interestingly, during an unrelated event at the White House on Friday about rural health care, he recounted threatening European allies with tariffs on prescription drugs.

“I may do that for Greenland, too,” Trump said, before his announcement Saturday about his focused tariffs. “I may put a tariff on countries if they don’t go along with Greenland, because we need Greenland for national security. So I may do that.”

The latest spherical of tariffs comes after authorities from Denmark and Greenland met at the White House with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance to focus on the continued battle. The encounter did not appear to resolve deep variations, with Danish authorities revealing that the events had a “fundamental disagreement” over the future of the Arctic island.

Following the unsuccessful assembly, a number of NATO nations, including France and Denmark, deployed troops to the Arctic Island. The troop actions reportedly have been meant to ship a message to the Trump administration that European nations are united in defending the intergovernmental army alliance.

“Greenland does not want to be governed by the U.S.”

At a joint press convention with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said that his nation will prioritize NATO and the European Union over the U.S.

“If we have to choose between the United States and Denmark, we choose Denmark,” Nielsen said. “We choose NATO, we choose the Kingdom of Denmark, we choose the EU.”

Nielsen added that his nation will not be for sale, as Trump has repeatedly prompt.

“One thing must be clear to everyone: Greenland does not want to be owned by the U.S.,” the Greenland prime minister said. “Greenland does not want to be governed by the U.S., Greenland does not want to be part of the U.S.”

“We choose the Greenland we know today, which is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark.”
