The Gilead Foundation is serving up pure positivity through a grant dedication of more than $3 million to help broaden access to healthy food in communities across the U.S.

The initiative from the nonprofit arm of Gilead Sciences is called Healing Hunger and helps 14 local and regional organizations working to meet the dietary wants of households in California, North Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
According to a press release, the grants, which come at a crucial time in our nation, will strengthen long-term food access through cellular markets, nutrition training, city farming applications, and school-centered food distribution fashions, with a focus on serving to communities where food insecurity charges stay highest.

Who Will Receive The Funding?
A press release notes that the grants will assist a vary of modern, community-driven efforts across the nation.
In California, the California Association of Food Banks will scale an equity-driven sourcing model that distributes 1.2 million kilos of culturally related produce while supporting minority-owned farms, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank will broaden a year-round cellular pantry that offers 2.5 million kilos of food throughout the county.
The Social Justice Learning Institute will distribute 850,000 kilos of produce and broaden its city farming and education schemes in Inglewood, while Food Forward will get better 833,000 kilos of recent produce to cut back waste and emissions in Southern California.
In the Southeast, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina will assist the distribution of 17 million kilos of food through 600 companion companies. In the Mid-Atlantic area, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey will ship 2.28 million kilos of food to youngsters while increasing workforce training and advantages enrollment, and the Interfaith Food Pantry Network will assist 2.3 million kilos of year-round food distribution and recovery efforts in Morris County
The Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, D.C. will broaden its cellular market websites and distribute 1.2 million kilos of food through 170 colleges, and the Maryland Food Bank will improve college pantries that present 2.4 million kilos of food to households.

Ultimately, the Gilead Foundation says its Healing Hunger program builds on its broader dedication to supporting communities where Gilead staff live and work. In 2024, the Foundation contributed $21.5 million to organizations selling training, health equity, and group resilience.
