Daily Show fans have same demand for Mark Kelly – | TV Shows

Senator Mark Kelly’s current look on The Daily Show has sparked a lot of chatter.

The Democratic Senator from Arizona is going through threats to his army pension from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who also announced the initiation of a formal 45-day course of to demote Kelly’s rank as a former Navy Captain.

This transfer by Hegseth comes after Kelly and 5 other Democratic lawmakers launched a video encouraging current army members to resist illegal orders following the U.S.’s assault on alleged drug-trafficking boats. Kelly has overtly criticized Hegseth’s actions and mentioned it with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show.

During the show, Stewart read out the memo issued by Hegseth, which reprimanded Kelly for figuring out himself as “a Captain in the United States Navy” and telling viewers, “We want to speak directly to members of the military … This administration is pitting our uniformed military…against American citizens…You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders.”

In response to Stewart, Kelly said about Hegseth, “This guy is surrounded by a bunch of yes men, they didn’t like that I said that.”

Stewart retorted, “You are a United States senator. And if you go on the floor of the Senate and say, ‘The Secretary of Defense is surrounded by yes men,’ they can go, ‘That’s it. Your pension is gone and your rank is gone.'”

Kelly continued, “That is what they are trying to do. I am going to do everything in my power not to allow them to do that.”

The viewers erupted in enthusiastic applause following Kelly’s remarks, reviews the Mirror US.

The clip from this section was posted on the Daily Show’s TikTok account, sparking viewers to categorical a unified sentiment. “Is he considering running for president? ?” one person questioned.

“Next President?” another individual chimed in. A 3rd observer declared, “Mark Kelly For President 2028! ! !” while including three fire emojis in their response.

During a later portion of the interview, Stewart criticized the current administration’s “fragility.”

He acknowledged, “This smacks of weakness and fear. When people have the power and the respect, they don’t need to be petty. This is petty.

“It’s a reflection of the individual at the top. It always is,” Kelly responded.
