Savannah Guthrie planning return to Today Show | TV Shows

Savannah Guthrie could also be returning to her Today show desk as soon as next month.

According to Page Six, the 54-year-old anchor hopes to return to work after her youngsters’ spring break. In New York City, colleges return to session on April 10 after the break. Savannah has been on hiatus since her 84-year-old mom, Nancy, went lacking from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1, 2026.

The search for Savannah’s mom hit 50 days, with no publicly named suspects or breaks in the case. She is believed to have been kidnapped after blood was discovered close to the doorway of her home, suggesting a violent battle.

Savannah joined the Today show in 2011 and has been a main co-anchor on the favored daytime program since 2012.

Her former longtime Today co-anchor and good friend, Hoda Kotb, has been filling in for her alongside Craig Melvin as she and her household navigate the devastating ordeal.

A separate source told Page Six that “There is no announcement regarding Savannah’s return date, and Hoda will remain filling in for her,” with a rotating lineup of visitor hosts accessible to take over if needed.

On March 5, a visibly emotional Savannah visited her co-workers at Studio 1A in Rockefeller Center and thanked her staff for “caring about my mom as much as I do.”

She also assured her Today staff that she plans on returning to her job no matter what occurs. “I have every intention of coming back,” she said. “I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to. You’re my family. And I would like to try.”

Savannah’s last look on the show was Friday, January 30, just two days before her mom was reported lacking. Amid the household emergency, Savannah also stepped away from internet hosting at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, with Hoda following swimsuit to assist her good friend.

The 61-year-old returned to the Today show in Savannah’s place on February 6.

Savannah and her siblings have pleaded for their mom’s protected return, offering a $1 million reward for data main to her whereabouts. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not publicly named any suspects or individuals of curiosity linked to Nancy’s disappearance.
