An Update on That Delaware DMV Shooting, With a | Political News
On Tuesday, two days before Christmas, we introduced you the horrible story out of Wilmington, Delaware: A Delaware state trooper was killed after a gunman opened fire in a DMV workplace. At that level, the main points had been minimal.
All that was recognized was that both the trooper and the suspected gunman had been killed — and a household and group had been left grieving the younger trooper, whose last act (pushing a DMV worker out of hurt’s approach) was that of a hero.

We’ve since realized the id of the trooper — State Police Cpl. Matthew “Ty” Snook, 34 — and that of the suspected gunman — 44-year-old Rahman Rose.
State Police Cpl. Matthew Snook was working an extra time task at the New Castle DMV reception desk on Tuesday afternoon when Rahman Rose entered as a buyer, approached him from behind and shot him with a handgun, state police said in a news release.
Rose, 44, of Wilmington, continued firing at the trooper, who pushed a DMV worker out of the best way and told them to run, investigators said. Rose then allowed clients to depart but fired a number of rounds at law enforcement as they approached the building.
A New Castle county police officer shot Rose through a window from exterior the building. Rose later died at a hospital.
Snook, a 10-year veteran of the state police drive, left behind a spouse and a 1-year-old daughter.
The motive for the capturing stays unclear, but amid the tragedy, there’s one small, vibrant spot: The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is stepping up to help Snook’s household.

No doubt Snook’s household would far fairly have been celebrating the vacations with him, but hopefully, this beneficiant gesture from TtoT will serve as some consolation to them.
Services for the fallen officer are set for January 5, 2026.
