Anime flick Demon Slayer beats “Downton Abbey”…
Fans of manga and historic period dramas spent Friday at their local cinemas, producing more than $40 million in mixed ticket gross sales, according to The Numbers.
With $33 million in opening day box workplace receipts, “Demon Slayer: Kimesu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” simply assumed the No. 1 spot on Friday.
It is the first in a trilogy of movies impressed by the beloved Japanese manga animated sequence, written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge.

Billed as the last chapter in the beloved British franchise, it failed to surpass the $14 million in first-day earnings generated by the unique 2019 “Downton Abbey” movie.
