The Archers continues to be a large hit on BBC Radio 4 and the up to date rural drama lately celebrated 75 years on air. The BBC cleaning soap opera follows the lives of farmers, vets, pub house owners and native vicars dwelling in the fictional English city of Ambridge. Episodes of the show are 13 minutes long and air every day of the week besides for Saturdays. Carole Boyd joined the solid of The Archers as Lynda Snell in 1986. Gushing over Boyd, he added: “She’s not all the time the best of people to get along with, but thankfully Carole Boyd, who performs Lynda, is unmanaged pleasure. It’s going to be such enjoyable.”

Back in November, the soap was blasted over its “biased” coverage of farmer protests. Viewers claimed that it glossed over issues such as the Labour party’s recently introduced inheritance tax fee for farmers with land worth over £1 million.

An outraged fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to highlight how The Archers appeared to downplay rural discontent regarding tax hikes before changing the subject.

The aggrieved listener posted: “BBC rural radio cleaning soap opera The Archers covers the current mass farmers protest: ‘There’s a lot of anger about this new inheritance tax on farms,’ admits David. ‘But we need those taxes to pay for issues just like the NHS,’ retorts Leonard, wrapping up the controversy moderately succinctly in the episode.”

Echoing the frustration, one individual responded in the comments: “The BBC appears to have taken on the job of introducing State propaganda via unhealthy *soaps*. Presumably all would-be writers have to submit potential scripts to the Ministry of Creativity for approval.”

Another fumed: “I don’t perceive how anybody maintains a) that the BBC has a proper wing bias and b) that it’s in anyway neutral.”
