Coco Gauff made a strong comeback from her crushing defeat in the China Open semi-finals, securing an spectacular 6-0 6-1 victory in Wuhan.

The No. 3 seed took just 51 minutes to overpower Moyuka Uchijima 6-1 6-0, barely shedding factors on serve and delivering 5 aces to advance to the third spherical. This comes only 4 days after Gauff was outplayed by Amanda Anisimova in Beijing.

Despite avoiding a full shutout in both units, Gauff struggled with 5 double faults as Anisimova defeated her in less than an hour. The 21 yr outdated pledged to study from the cruel loss, and she actually did.

As the No. 3 seed in Wuhan, Gauff obtained a bye instantly into the second spherical, where she confronted qualifier Uchijima. She shortly set the tempo, breaking and taking a 3-0 lead to start the match.

Gauff, who made it to the semi-finals in Wuhan last year, is now set to face either Zhang Shuai or Sorana Cirstea in her quest for a quarter-final spot. The two-time Major winner had a rough night at the China Open semi-final, where she was unable to match up to Anisimova’s game.

“She performed properly. I felt like I could not actually have a likelihood of getting a rhythm on the market. But a studying expertise for the next time,” Gauff reflected on the match.

She added: “I’m joyful, wanting ahead to enjoying a one-week 1000. I type of miss enjoying them. I used to be considering, like today I woke up and felt prefer it was so long since my last match.

“Yeah, I’m looking forward to that, playing in that format. Last year I quite enjoyed it, even though I was going into the tournament tired just from winning here. But I think it helped having to play back to back.”
