Newsom Makes Yet Another Announcement About | Political News
As PinkState beforehand reported, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has laughably tried to take on the function of state crimefighter over the last couple of weeks, holding a press briefing on Thursday to announce a law enforcement “surge” for sure cities in the Golden State.
During the presser, Newsom failed to clarify how, if crime was – per him – allegedly considerably down by double digits in the blue cities he was sending help to, why the additional surge of California Highway Patrol officers was needed.
Further, Newsom could not present a coherent reply when requested by a reporter if the governor initiating the law enforcement surge meant he believed crime was an issue in California after all, despite his earlier claims that the whole lot was under control amid the national debate initiated by President Trump about crime issues in blue cities.

Hilariously, as Newsom has responded to Trump’s criticisms by first denying there was a downside and then switching gears and sending help, the potential 2028 presidential candidate has made yet another announcement seemingly in response to another space of focus for Trump: homelessness:
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced Friday that he has created a new job pressure to dismantle homeless encampments in his state’s largest cities, citing public security considerations.
“California has put in place a strong, comprehensive strategy for fighting the national homelessness and housing crises — and is outperforming the nation as a result in turning this issue around,” Newsom said in a assertion. “No one should live in a dangerous or unsanitary encampment, and we will continue our ongoing work to ensure that everyone has a safe place to call home.”
With what does Newsom’s announcement just so occur to coincide? The homeless encampments that are being cleared in Washington, D.C., as a consequence of Trump federalizing law enforcement there earlier this month.
The Trump White House, in flip, has rightly accused him of being a copycat. I imply, that’s all any of this is at this level.
It’s attention-grabbing and yet so solely predictable. The only time Newsom takes motion on the urgent crime and homelessness issues his state faces is when he is either shamed into motion nationally or when important dignitaries from other international locations are coming.
“I know folks are saying, ‘Oh, they’re just cleaning up this place because all those fancy leaders are coming to town.’ That’s true because it’s true,” Newsom admitted in November 2023 as residents have been raising questions on why San Francisco was being scrubbed clean of poop on the streets and the homeless have been being hidden forward of the APEC convention but not at any other time of the 12 months.
And just as a reminder, Gavin Newsom has held public workplace in California since 1996. When he was elected mayor of San Francisco in 2003, he touted a ten-year plan to eradicate homelessness in SF. Once again, this is a flashback to some of Newsom’s pledges over his a long time in state authorities to remedy the homeless disaster, juxtaposed alongside inadvertent admissions from Newsom himself that he is been a complete failure at it:
Gavin Newsom just wants a few more years and a few more {dollars} and THEN he’ll remedy the homeless disaster in California.

Yet the issues there and in other components of the state still exist. It’s one thing Newsom is keenly conscious of as he eyes a 2028 presidential run, making this argument on the issue back in May:
As a taxpayer, not just Governor. I’m not in funding failure anymore. I’m not. I will not. Time to do your job. People are dying on their watch, dying on their watch. I do not know — how do people get reelected? Look at these encampments. They’re a shame. They’ve been there years and years and years and years. I’ve heard that same rhetoric for years. People are dying. Kids are being born.
I feel the best factor voters can do on this matter in 2028, assuming Newsom presses forth with a presidential marketing campaign, is to take his phrases to coronary heart and act accordingly: People who keep making guarantees about eradicating homelessness that they cannot and will not keep don’t deserve to be reelected, and particularly not to larger workplace.
Editor’s Note: President Trump is not going to enable lawlessness to reign in America. We is not going to have a repeat of 2020’s “Summer of Love.”
