Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth declared that U.S. strikes in the Caribbean placing narcoterrorists and their boats at the “bottom of the ocean” have only just begun.
He made the remark during President Donald Trump‘s Cabinet assembly on Tuesday, including, “Joe Biden tried to approach it with kid gloves and allowed them to come across the border, cartels take over the community, 20 million people, hundreds of thousands of Americans poisoned, and President Trump said no, we are taking the gloves off.”
The assembly got here as the Trump administration faces scrutiny over a Sept. 2 strike on a suspected Venezuelan drug boat in the Caribbean. On Nov. 28, the Washington Post reported that U.S. navy carried out a second, deadly strike that killed two survivors as they clung to the wreckage.
Trump claimed that “drugs coming from sea by sea are 91% down.”
Pete Hegseth, the Defense Secretary, said the incident was “fabricated,” but the White House acknowledged on December 1 that a second strike had occurred.
On Monday evening, Hegseth posted his help for the admiral in charge of the operation, searching for distance from the order, which has been condemned by consultants and lawmakers in both events as a struggle crime or homicide.
President Trump defended Hegseth, telling reporters onboard Air Force One on Sunday: “I’m going to find out about it, but Pete said he did not order the death of those two men.”
When requested if he would have wished a second attempt to kill the survivors, Trump said: “We’ll look into it, but no, I wouldn’t have wanted that – not a second strike. The first strike was very lethal.”
The U.S. has constructed up a substantial navy presence in the Caribbean aimed at Venezuela, with the administration saying its objective is to deter drug smuggling. The administration has also made clear that it desires to see Maduro eliminated from energy.

The Trump administration has provided no concrete evidence to help the allegations behind its marketing campaign.
