Viral Video Shows Woman Discovering Creepy

There’s a well-known catchphrase, “Florida Man,” due to the fact that so many news tales have headlines that start with “Florida Man” and end with the Floridian doing one thing extremely dumb or weird. But you may just as properly start many headlines with “Today in LA” adopted by, “this insane thing happened.”

And that’s precisely the case in this viral video where a Los Angeles girl ordered a Waymo self-driving taxi… only to discover a man in the trunk. What was he doing there? How did he get there? Even the person himself didn’t fairly appear to know. When requested how he occurred to be in her taxi, he was nonsensical:

” … I’m trying to figure this out,” the person responds. “This [expletive] won’t let me out.”

When the vehicle arrived, they opened the rear trunk/hatch space and found a random would-be assassin/rapist mendacity inside, curled up behind the back seats.

Waymo called the incident “unacceptable,” confirmed their rider help crew assisted, and said they’re implementing modifications to forestall repeats.

It’s not the only wild factor to occur in a Waymo in current days, as RedState’s Ward Clark reported Wednesday:

Where did this latest event occur? Not surprisingly, in the infamous drug and gang-infested MacArthur Park space of the City of Angels.

“I just want to know why he was in the trunk. Who put him in the trunk? How did he get into the trunk?” said Ollie Shirvani, a Los Angeles resident.

The encounter comes just a week after a separate Waymo vehicle in Los Angeles drove through an energetic police standoff. Officers had been pointing weapons at a suspect on the ground when the driverless car continued shifting through the scene with a passenger still inside.

Nationwide, more than 3,000 Waymo automobiles are under recall after the company reported a software program issue that brought about some vehicles to cross stopped college buses with their stop arms prolonged.

Since this is Los Angeles, the interloper confronted no penalties, because LA police said “no crime had been committed.” They haven’t revealed how he received into the trunk or why he was there.

In a means, the incident is humorous, merely because of how ludicrous it’s, but it factors to a more sinister issue: security, and particularly girls’s security.

I’ve been seeing more and more Waymos around the streets of town, and frankly, it’s disconcerting. I don’t need to be that “get off my lawn guy” who’s afraid of new technology, because it’s coming whether I like it or not. After all, variations of the phrase, “We’ve developed more technology in the last 50 years than in all of previous human history combined,” are thrown about steadily, and we are able to argue about whether or not they’re 100% correct, but I believe we are able to agree that the tempo, just in our lifetimes, is dizzying.

Seeing those vehicles with no drivers at the stoplight continues to throw me. If I ever do call for one, I’m undoubtedly checking the trunk.
