A Tale of Two Protests, San Francisco and Florida

San Francisco has been a nutty place for some time now. The metropolis’s been a stronghold of liberals for years, arguably since shortly after World War 2. But over the last couple of a long time, the town’s leftist population has crossed over into pure wackadoodle. It’s also a hotbed of Trump Derangement Syndrome; if President Trump discovered a manner to generate clean, free electrical energy from nothing, the San Francisco left would out of the blue be campaigning in favor of coal plants.

Now, in the latest chapter in “San Francisco goes completely bat-guano nuts,” San Franciscans are taking to the streets (I’m sure it is genuinely spontaneous) to protest Trump’s ouster of Venezuela’s tinpot dictator Nicolás Maduro.

Not the standard issues from leftist protests: Neatly, seemingly professionally printed indicators, along with badly spelled hand-made indicators with poor penmanship and worse grammar. AWFLs. People are still sporting COVID masks. It’s a cavalcade of the standard suspects.

There’s one factor, though, that makes these people look even dumber than they already do, and that’s saying one thing. That factor, of course, is the response of Venezuelan expats in the United States, people who fled the dictator Maduro’s illegitimate rule. These people aren’t chanting “Hands off Venezuela.” They are, actually, dancing in the streets. 

“This feels like a breath of fresh air”: Venezuelans in South Florida poured into the streets of Doral early Saturday, celebrating the U.S. army motion in Venezuela that led to the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro.

One Venezuelan said. Not “one Republican said.” Not “one American right-wing war-monger said.” A Venezuelan. That appears to be the operating narrative among Venezuelan expats proper now.

But wait! There’s more! These joyful Venezuelans are leaping for pleasure, and none of the people they’re expressing their gratitude to are San Francisco liberals.

They got here out in the center of the night time when they heard the news, some still in pajamas as they joined the gang of revelers waving Venezuelan flags and dancing, singing and crying.

“Thank you, Lord, thank you president of the United States. I’ve been waiting for years — he’s done so much damage. This has been horrible,” said Yajaira, a Venezuelan American from the town of Maracaibo.

A Venezuelan, who got here to the United States because of Maduro and his dictatorial, corrupt rule. This man has a vested curiosity in what’s going on in Caracas proper now. None of those San Francisco nutbars do.

The news that the U.S. had attacked Venezuela and captured President Nicolás Maduro and his spouse elicited a spontaneous celebration in entrance of El Arepazo, a restaurant in Doral, a metropolis in Miami-Dade County nicknamed “Doralzuela” because it has the very best focus of Venezuelans in the U.S.

“We’ve been here eight years, eight years already,” Yajaira said, referring to how long she’s been in the U.S. “They killed my older brother. It was so tough. They kidnapped my brothers. That was tough. I thank God for all of this because it’s been tough,” she said, her voice breaking as she appeared up at the sky.’

Yajaira can go home now. The new Venezuela will need its people back if it is to grow, as it ought to, into a trendy, affluent nation. Venezuela will need a lot of the people who fled Maduro’s thuggery; its skilled people, its working people, its households. 

As for San Francisco liberals and nutbar leftists, effectively, when contemplating how a lot significance to place on the actions of two teams of people, look to see which of them have pores and skin in the sport. The Venezuelans who are celebrating, in Caracas and in Florida, have some personal stake in what’s occurring in Venezuela. The San Francisco protesters just hate President Trump. That, actually, is all we need to know about this, and that’s for sure and for sure.
