Anthony Joshua was main on all scorecards prior to his sixth-round knockout triumph over (*11*)Jake Paul earlier this month. The British boxer made a comeback to the ring for the first time since his heart-wrenching knockout loss to compatriot Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

A shaken Joshua, whose mother and father are both Nigerian, was in the backseat of a Lexus that crashed into a stationary truck. Images released by Nigerian authorities confirmed the mangled vehicle – with Joshua in pain amidst damaged glass.

Emergency staff swiftly arrived at the scene close to a petrol station on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway shortly after 11am on Monday morning in Makun.

Agash Satkunarajah, 26, from Harrow, who knew Sina, spent a number of minutes reflecting on the tributes. He said: “It’s quite devastating to see that they went for a holiday and never came home. For AJ I just don’t know where this takes him. I think mentally he’s going to be broken. AJ used to come here and prepare for his fights. He was a close friend of Sina’s.

“Sina was his superb buddy, but he was also his strength and conditioning coach so I believe it will likely be very troublesome for him to continue when two of the most important people in your boxing profession have handed away sadly.”
