Now Theres Another Democrat Opposing the Schumer | Political News

There are some Democrats, it appears, who will not be consumed with Trump Derangement Syndrome. Or, at least, they aren’t so knee-jerkingly opposed to all issues Trump to not perceive that sometimes you’ve gotten to take the deal that’s on the desk, particularly when you are in the minority, instead of throwing a hissy-fit and shutting down the authorities because your get together management is full of Schiff.

One of these uncommon Democrats would appear to be (for the second, anyway) Representative Jared Golden (D-ME), who has criticized the far-left wing of his own get together over the shutdown.

That’s exceptional.

Democratic Rep. Jared Golden  (Maine) criticized “far-left groups” for demanding Democrats vote against a Republican-backed proposal to fund the authorities.

“This government shutdown is the result of hardball politics driven by the demands far-left groups are making for Democratic Party leaders to put on a show of their opposition to President Trump,” Golden said in a Wednesday assertion

Golden was the lone Democrat to vote for the GOP funding invoice, which handed the House 217-212 on Sept. 19.

In a assertion the day of the vote, Golden’s workplace pointed to the impacts a shutdown would have on the more than 12,000 federal employees in Maine and argued a closure would give the president “extraordinary leeway in determining which aspects of government are ‘essential,’ and which can be shuttered.”

Now, Jared Golden could also be of a sound thoughts on this shutdown, but that would not make him a conservative, or even whatever passes for a reasonable in the Democratic Party these days. He’s usually a dependable Democrat vote in the House. But on this issue? He’s on the money. There’s a time and a place for any political get together to dig in its heels and struggle, but for Democrats, now, on this issue, this is not it. It’s to Rep. Diamond’s credit that he will get that a lot.

The Republican funding invoice, dubbed “clean” and “nonpartisan” by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), would have funded the authorities through Nov. 21. It was voted down Tuesday in the Senate, though, with just three members of the Senate Democratic caucus — John Fetterman (Pa.), Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.) and Angus King (Maine), an impartial who caucuses with the Democrats — voting in favor. Republican Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) voted against the proposal.

On Wednesday, Senate Democrats blocked a movement to advance the GOP funding invoice once again.

Remember when there have been more than a few reasonable Democrats, ones we may depend on to admit that they did not win a battle but went forward and did what was best for the nation? It’s good to see there are at least a few Democrats like that still around.

Here, Rep. Golden makes a good level:

Golden said Tuesday that while Republicans have “reasonable concerns about tax credits going to high-income households,” a negotiation, not a shutdown, is the best path ahead.

“There’s room and time to negotiate,” he added. “But normal policy disagreements are no reason to subject our constituents to the continued harm of this shutdown.”

Credit where credit is due. The CR supplied was a clean one, no modifications, no big concepts, just shopping for time to discuss. Democrats did not need to discuss. This shutdown is a Democrat shutdown. They did it. They own it. At least a few of their own members, including not only Rep. Golden but also Senators John Fetterman (D-PA), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), and Angus King (D-ME), voted against closing the authorities’s doorways. But they’re going to have to persuade a few of their colleagues to be part of the Republicans on this, unless they need this hung around their neck as we go into the mid-term election cycle.

Let’s hope they do not work that half out too soon.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is right here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats pressured a authorities shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
