Singer died with just $506 in cash despite property | Music News

Michael Hutchence shot to fame as the lead singer of INXS, but he sadly died at just 37 years outdated.

The Australian singer-songwriter co-founded the band with Garry Gary Beers, Andrew Farriss, Jon Farriss, Tim Farriss and Kirk Pengilly. The band was together for years before they finally achieved worldwide success with their 1987 album, Kick.

At the time of his death, Michael had just $506 in cash and $572 as his share of INXS’ bank balances. While the singer was said to have thousands and thousands in real estate, the properties he owned in London, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Australia had been in fact owned by varied corporations, according to The Sun.

Investigators uncovered corporations called Nexcess, Nextcircle and Leaguework really managed some of Michael’s properties and not him. It’s unclear who is definitely behind these corporations.

Michael’s sister, Tina Hutchence, spoke about the businesses who managed Michael’s properties, telling The Sun, “People who set up these things are not people who live in one place, they move around. So it’s not like we can serve papers. No one has a number.”

Michael’s daughter Tiger Lily was at one level even reported to be “living in a London squat” after lacking out on her dad’s outdated fortune.

Michael’s wealth suffered dramatically due to his partying habits, according to Colin Diamond, who was in charge of the musician’s accounts.

The INXS star had tried to present for his household, with his will leaving half of his property to Tiger Lily. He needed the remainder cut up equally between his accomplice Paula Yates and his mom Patricia, father Kel, brother Rhett and sister Tina.

Michael also requested $250,000 be left to both Amnesty International and Greenpeace. Sadly, this want was never carried out.

Documentary maker Richard Lowenstein spoke to Tiger Lily in 2019. He urged there was a probability Michael’s property was “still going to come to you,” but she laughed at the thought.

Tiger Lily admitted she had “given up on that now,” including, “It’s literally gone.”

Michael was sadly discovered lifeless in his room at the Ritz-Carlton lodge in the Double Bay suburb of Sydney, Australia, on November 22, 1997. His trigger of death was recorded as suicide.

His funeral happened 5 days later at St Andrew’s Cathedral in Sydney and was attended by 600 people.
