Court commands B.J. Penn vacate home as judge | MMA News

Former two-division UFC champion B.J. Penn was back in court on Tuesday where a Hawaiian judge ordered him to vacate the home he shares with his 79-year previous mom, Lorraine Shin. The judge also prolonged the protecting order against Penn introduced by Shin until Nov. 23. 

Penn should vacate the home immediately, keep 1000 yards away from the residence and 100 toes away from his mom. If the 2 occurred to be in the identical place, “the prohibited party (Penn) must leave immediately.”

Leading up to the May 25 arrest, Shin claims Penn obtained bodily with her after shining a brilliant flashlight in her face as she tried to call 911.

“I tried turning in several directions and he continued to blind me with his flashlight,” Shin wrote in the assertion. “I then tried to grab the flashlight and remove it from my face and then he grabbed my arms and shoved me against the 4-door gray sedan, which I felt a sharp pain in my back. I then started to scream at the top of my voice for my son Reagan Penn to help me.

“Reagan lives two houses away from me. Reagan ran over to help me. I then dialed 911 for help.”

Shin believes Penn is struggling from a situation referred to as apgras delusional syndrome and needs him to get help.

“I believe my son [B.J. Penn] is suffering from Capgras delusional syndrome (a psychiatric disorder in which a person holds a delusion that a friend, spouse, parent, other close family member has been replaced by an identical imposter). He believes I’m an imposter who has killed his family to gain control of the family assets,” she wrote.

“In the best interest for my safety, I ask the court for a six month [temporary restraining order] and have my son ordered to get medical treatment or other source of therapy.”

Penn once held the UFC light-weight and welterweight titles. He was inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame in 2015. He final fought in May 2019, shedding to Clay Guida by unanimous decision.

In the years since, Penn has had several brushes with the law. In January 2021, Penn was arrested under suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. In June 2019, video emerged of Penn combating a bouncer after being thrown out of a bar. Two months later, Penn was concerned in one other bar combat caught on video. In January 2015, Penn was arrest after an altercation at a Maui lodge.
